For the past six years, photographer Melissa Spitz documented her mothers mental illness. At a young age Melissa was informed that her mother had been institutionalized for psychotic paranoia. Melissa's mothers issue lefts her family broken and in her 20s, her mother then became her main focus as she began documenting her mothers illness through photography. As far as the photography goes, I really like how Spitz, staged or not, captures her mothers confusion and her helplessness. As far as an artist model, Spitz will definitely help me in capturing the rest of my series as I carry on with the Isolation theme.
